Getting a music video ready takes a lot of effort. There are many things that you need to think about apart from the fact that you are in a mood to actually sing and record something. There is the equipment, the room, and of course the other people who are going to be part of your crew who need to be ready to put the whole thing together. One of the most important and pressing problems that every musician faces, is to do with music recording. It could be a problem with the place that you are recording in, or it might be that your mic is just not good enough for what you intend to do. It could also be that there is too much of a bass effect that seems to be impacting the quality of the complete music submission. Do you know that sometimes there could be a problem if there are some vibratory sounds that are caused by the equipment that you use? Even your breathing can also cause a problem! So, let’s find out how this can be solved or at least reduced.
The Proximity Effect
Though this might sound like something very technical or scientific, in reality, this is a very easy concept to understand. The word proximity means closeness; where the proximity effort effect is concerned, the problem arises because your microphone is too close to the source of the sound. Therefore, all the low frequencies picked up by your microphone seem to get amplified and that is why your recordings seem like they have too much of a bass sound. It is therefore important for you to ensure that the distance between the sources of sound which could be from instruments or human voices are increased; only this can give you a sound that is balanced and well rounded. However, please don’t make the mistake of moving too far away from the microphone; that might create all sorts of other kinds of problems which you would have to deal with.
Room Noises
This is probably even more difficult than the previous proximity effect that we spoke about. It is quite a huge problem to control the kinds of sounds that emanate in a room. These could be from the equipment, the flooring, the padding on the walls or on the rooves, or for that matter from any part of the room. It is a common mistake for a person to raise his or her own voice while recording thinking that that could drown out the noises in a room; unfortunately, this is not so & the same needs rectifying at the earliest stage of the recording process.
