When you are making a video for the web, there are a few things that you will be considering. One of them is going to be the quality of it all but you will also be worried about how it will be received. This is especially true if the content is meant for a YouTube channel or something on the lines of that. Well for the first part, people tend to think that for videos to be considered good, a lot of gear is required. That is not the case and if you focus on a few simple things, they will automatically become better. And if you think about it, videos are the way to go these days. Not many people are interested in reading text but present information to them in a visual format and they will lap it up. One aspect that is an absolute must is having clear audio. You might find this a tad ironic but if this part of a video is not working, it doesn’t matter if you have shot it in 4K. It might sound a little weird but when people hear better, they can see better as well.
Your Gear
Now, there is nothing against you buying high-quality gear if you can afford it but remember that if this is not possible, it is okay. You can use what you have to your advantage. The simple rules that you should be thinking about are the framing of the subject, the lighting which can be artificial or natural. What would work is getting a tripod so that your video does not get shaky. Having the frame go all wobbly is something that no one wants to see. So, the gear can be minimal, but it is not the most important thing.
The Story
Whether your video is going to be simple or wacky, remember that it has a structure to it. This allows the viewer to follow what is going on and it is up to you to stick to the story. So, decide how the story of the video will flow and then edit it accordingly. Sometimes you might come up with something completely different during the editing process. This is okay as long as you ensure that the story you want is being conveyed. You are trying to say something, and it has to get across in an effective manner.
